Parents Right to Know

Parents may request information regarding the professional qualifications of a student's classroom teacher including:Whether the teacher has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction. Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived. The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher an any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree. Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so,required under this part. Please contact Randy Smiley at 843-386-2358 to answer any questions you may have concerning the qualifications of your child's teacher.

 

Parents of Children Who Are English Language Learners

We encourage parents of children who are English Language Learners to contact Randy Smiley at 843-386-2358 with any concerns or ideas about their children or the schools in which they attend. We offer serives that can assist you and your child.

McKinney-Vento Act

The McKinney-Vento Act protects the rights of children and youths in homeless sitautions to attend and succeed in school, including preschool. The McKinney-Vento Act applies to all children and youths who do not have a fixed, regular, and adequate residence, including those who are staying with friends or relatives because they have list their housing:are awaiting foster care placement; or are living in emergency or transitional shelters, campgrounds, cars, public places, abandoned buildings or bus or train stations. Children in these sitatuations have a right; 1) to go to school, 2) enroll in school without immunizations, school records, proof of redency or birth certificates and other dicuments, 3) be provided transportation to and from the school, 4) be free from harrasment and isolation, 5) have any disagreements with the school settled quickly.
